I don't know anything about Republic of Venice coins, but it's good to see what was being used when St Mark's first looked the way it does now. That gros tournois looks like it was made yesterday. I don't think I've seen a much better Alexander III either. I'll follow Grinya's Toqtu Khan dang with a similar one from his predecessor. Note the tamga in the middle has a slightly different arrangement of goalposts, which tells you it's a different 'house'. It's dated to 686AH, which seems to be almost all in 1287. Twins! Thx for the kind words about that Scottish Penny @john. I probably overshot a bit on the condition compared to most of my minor silvers! Here is a Denar from the German City State of Brandenberg that is datable to the range 1280 to 1293 AD. The obv legend is OTTO MARCHIO. The rev has some nice clovers to compare with @tdz's recently-posted coin of Brabant. I have attributed it as Bonhoff 815 and Bahrfeld 192.   "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."

Speaking of the Holy Roman Empire Duchy of Brabant, here is a Pfennig datable to 1282 to 1292 AD. It was issued by Johann I. The obv inscription is X I DVX, while the rev inscription is L O V A. As I recall I purchased primarily for that cool A letterform. It is attributed as van der Chijs 5.2.   "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."

Lots of very nice coins this decade. I was definitely expecting to see a gros tournois, and that was a beauty. Also like those sharp dated coins from Asia! I will go back to northern Europe with this denier from the Lordship of Neufchateau (Lorraine), datable to 1281-1303. Boudeau 1453 and Numista #92381   Rev legend variant NOVOVOCAT |

The obv inscription is BNDICTV SIT NOME DNI NRI DEI IhV XPI and PHILIPPVS REX while the rev inscription is TVRONVS CIVIS. I have attributed it as Roberts 2461a and Duplessy 213. Here is a Denier from the Crusader State of The Duchy of Athens that is datable to the range 1280 to 1294 AD. The obc inscription is + G DVC ATENES while the rev inscription is ThEBE CIVIS. I have attributed it as CCS 86.   "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."

Nice pair of "Spanish" coins. My last for this decade is my saluto d'argento from the Kingdom of Naples, which I think has a date range 1285-1302, Biaggi 1629. Referring to a brief discussion upthread about the earliest monarch to "number" themselves on a coin, I'll point out that the obverse legend begins KAROL' SCD' for Charles II.   Edited by tdziemia
