Here is a cousin to @pal's coin and my last one for this decade. It is a Kahavanu from the Cholas Dynasty that dates to between 1000 and 1275 AD. It is attributed as MNI #730.

I can get us started for this decade with a silver Penny minted in Winchester, Great Britain. It dates to between 991 and 997 AD. The obv legend is AEDELRED REX ANGLUX. It was issued in the name of Aethelred II and the moneyer was Aelfsige. I have attributed it as SP 1148 and North 770.

Beautiful coin. This is called the Crux Type because of the lettering in the angles on the reverse. I think it's a standard Crux (left bust, upright sceptre, single fold in drapery) and so not 'early' or 'late' in the range.

That is a really lovely penny, @Spence. Nice toning too.

Another 100 years for me to go before I can join.

Here is a Denar from the German City of Goslar that can be dated to between 983 and 1002 AD. The obv inscription is +ADELHEIT and O/D/D/O while the rev inscription is DEI GRATIA. I have attributed it as Bonhoff 294.

Here is my last coin for this decade, a Bavarian Denar that was minted at Regensberg. It can be dated to between 985 and 995 AD and was issued under the authority of King Heinrich II. The obv inscription is H VICSVNRX while the rev inscriptions are something like +XRNE SHIIVSA and MAO.

Some really nice coins shown for the last decades!

Unfortunately the places I collect were making pretty crude coins back then...
Here is a denier of Liege issued by its first Prince-Bishop, Notger, in the name of Otto III as King of Germany, datable to 983-996. Dengis 4, Numista 335652

Weakly struck/worn, but that is a great addition to this thread @tdz!

Any others out there for this decade? Let's have a last call, with a drop back to the decade of the 970s starting tomorrow am.
