Last call for coins minted in the 790s. Starting tomorrow (Friday), we will drop back another decade.

Another nice Sceat—and a plate coin!

This Hemidrachm comes from the Abbasid Governors of Tabaristan and is dated PYE 137, which roughly corresponds to 788 AD. I believe that the issuing ruler was Hani. I have attributed it as Album 69 and Malek 110.1.

Anything else from the 780s? We can drop back to the 770s starting in the morning.

I continue to be amazed at your collection @john. Well done!

Since we are the decade of the 770s now, here are a pair of Abbasid Dirhams dated AH 155 (771/772 AD). The first was minted at Medina Al-Salam while the second was minted at Baghdad. The first one came from Stephen Album and I'm pretty sure the second one did too, although I bought it early enough in my collecting days that I wasn't recording provenance then on the 2x2s. It cost me less than $13 in 2000! I have attributed both coins as Album A-213.1.

You have an impressive collection, @JohnConduitt! And those are beautiful dirhams, Spence.

Here is my last contribution in this thread (unless we reach the 380s ...).

Francia/Frankish Kingdom 771-81, denier, Charlemagne (Charles the Great). 1.21 g, minted in Melle.

Inscriptions: CAROLVS / MEDOLVS. References: Prou 684, Depeyrot 605.

Sweet Denier @era. I'm not sure that I've seen an AR ligature previously.

Wow, a Charlemagne denier. That is a coin to sign off with. I have one on my list, but I'll need to sell my car to get it

I also have a dirham, although I don't know what it says (other than it has the first kalima on it).

Dirham from the time of al-Mansur, 774-775

Madinat al-Salam. Silver, 27mm, 2.86g. (SICA III, 1598).

Possible, but the V2.0 of this thread has been stuck on the decade of the 410s since September 2021.

Also, glad to have you lurking on this thread @ttk!

Here are two more Abbasid Dirhams, the first dated AH 154 (770/771 AD) and the second dated AH 159 (776 AD). Both were minted at Madinat al-Salam (Baghdad), although the earlier one was issued by al-Mansur and the later one by al-Mahdi. I have attributed the first one as Album A 213.1 and the second one as Album A215.1.

Here is another Abbasid Dirham. This was minted in al Muhanmadiya in the year AH 149, which corresponds to 766/767 AD. I have attributed it as Album A-213.2.
