Great topics, Commems! I'm a big fan of vignettes and have a couple albums full of them.

That first one is an engraving of the SS Bristol or possibly her sister ship the SS Providence. This pair carried passengers between New York and Bristol, Rhode Island, starting in 1867.

I have a very similar engraving which shows the vessel's name over the paddle wheel.

The Bureau of Engraving & Printing also did their own version, which appears on revenue stamps and maritime licenses from the period.
