Yes the damage on the front and back of this coin seem to line up. This one would be a spender for me.

Can't think of any way that could happen during the striking of
the coin so it has to be damage.

It looks like something was pressed hard into the reverse, denting it in - causing the bulging you see on the obverse.. PMD - a spender or maybe a 'wishing well' coin.

Hit hard by something on the reverse, chemical stain on the obverse. PMD. Worth keeping? No, keep searching!

Reverse is pushed in, the obverse is altered. Not a mint error.
