I have a 1989 P Jefferson nickel and noticed the obverse might have something wrong with the way the words and date curve up. Is this normal?

Appears to be damage from a coin-wrapping machine or a gum ball machine, as evidenced by the circular ring cutting through (and squashing) the letters. Not a mint error.

that ring looks to be too close to the rim to be caused by a wrapping machine. I think a gumball or other type mechanical damage
