The title says it all I think. This is an indentation, it almost looks like an image of something. Maybe that is just the human tendency to see something in all foreign images? I know you guys are familiar with this effect. Please educate me. My scope only shows this much of the coin at full out. I need to buy a better scope, any suggestions? I am open to spending a couple hundred or lower.

Depends on what it looks like on the reverse? It could be a lamination or the coin may have been hammered.

Looks like a large Struck Through. Possibly grease or grit.

Weight should be less than 3.11 if it is a lamination error. If the coin is 3.11 then it is a struck through debris issue. The edges will be a bit thicker than normal.

I guess it will be up to how much the coin weighs.
Do you have a scale at measures out to 2 decimal places?

Unfortunate your photos have a red banner running diagonally across the image.

only one place it is 3.1 grams. Yes, although it is supposed to be uncirculated the best I would give it is maybe au, br and that is being very generous. In the whole roll I got maybe three that would qualify, in my mind, as uncirculated. No BU even though that was printed on the receipt. I think these were the end coins from rolls that the guy had set aside and decided to sell to make a little more profit. Does grease actually make depressions on a coin? Wow, that is some kind of resistance.
I love learning new stuff. Thanks everyone who made a comment. I appreciate the input.
