Post Your Pictures Of Low Mintage Coins In Terrible Condition

Looking through my dollar coin albums I was wondering why such a sorry looking coin as this would be in it amongst the rest which are mostly aUNC/UNC+. A quick perusal of the obverse reminded me why.

Strange that the most valuable coin in my collection is also in the worst condition. Actually looks a lot better in the scan than it does in hand.

Any mule is a good mule, but this is certainly one of the poorest I've seen posted on this forum.

That coin looks familiar... At least very similar to the one I dug up while detecting a few years ago. I swapped it for a shiny $2 coin via the work snack vending machine so I guess it ended up back in circulation.

Not exactly really bad but well below average for its type. This was from that group of bullion Canberra's I brought.




Most of them are at least gVF, to get one in barely Fine is amazing. I seem to love high grade coins in mid/low grades.

Its going with my worn 1949 Crown (Page 2).

They obviously circulated for quite a while. It's kind of nice to see actually - these days low mintage coins don't stay in circulation very long!

Any 1932 Florin is worth owning despite its condition!
Unless of course its a fake, your two look good to me and many other collectors who either don't have one or appreciate rare coins.

Apart from the Victoria centenary Florin, 1932 is the rarest date of Australian Florin.

Your first coin is decent and average for the era, most pre 1935 Aussie Florins are worn flat and quality coins cost hundreds.

The first coin is a high Very Good and some would even say Fine - I would say its around $400 or so.

The second coin is definitely more worn, probably between Good and Very Good (Good+), but to many people wanting one, still definitely acceptable, its details are visible and you can make out its 1932. I think someone would easily offer $100 - $175 for it.

My ONLY 1932 Florin is only slightly nicer than your "first" worst coin. I would love to see your 1932 Florins that you don't consider your "worst".

A common date one, like a late Victorian or Edward VII one, normally sells for around £15 to £20 in the UK. You'll see them on ebay for about this price, but they sometimes get into a bidding war if someone is making up a set and needs that particular coin.
