Does anybody know what the value is on this coin?
(1878 8TF Morgan VAM4)
It's at ANACS right now along with some other of my coins...I think it will grade MS63...

The VAM book lists the VAM 4 as an R-4, but not in the Top 100 or Hot 50. There is some pricing info on VAMLINK.com, but it is outdated.

Proabably worth a modest premium over a "garden variety" 63, maybe $50 or so.
Rest in Peace

Thanks guys--if there had not been what looks like a rim bump it would have made MS65+.
Maybe its not a rim bump!!!

Connecticoin--do you mean $50 for the VAM...plus what the coin is worth?

Mike--I'm thinking it would sell for over $200 as it is a great coin.

Can't wait to get it back!!

Speedy, The 64's were in some cases selling for more than list price, again without a VAM designation. $350.00 to $500.00 seems to be the range! Mike

VAM is acually an acronym for two authors of the VAM Book ,, Leroy VanAllen and A. George Mallis.

VAM refers to a die Variety ,mostly associated with Morgan dollars, many of these VAM's are very small, Microscopic, but are a very active part of Morgan collecting, with some being Very rare and quite valuble.

Im sure If I messed this up, someone who collects morgans will help straighten me out, and get you the correct info!!

All Morgans and Peace dollars are VAMs. Some of them are just way more fun than others

Like this 1923 whisker jaw....
