Quote:Quote: 1964 half dollar is the last year we stopped using full silver in the coins here Actually, it's the final year a composition of 90% silver, 10% copper was used on minor denomination USA coins. He did say full silver, which is accurate since the later coins were 40% or "less than half" silver, at least for circulation. The 90%, or "full" silver would return for NIFC/NCLT issues (silver eagles, proof sets, and commemorative coins).

My secret Santa got here! Thank you! I was starting to get worried, last year I was one of the last two and didn't get mine until March. Must have been exceptionally naughty!

Some GREAT additions to the thread. Secret Santas all doing a great job. Very creative and generous! I'm glad to see so many gifts still rolling in.
PS: Mail is VERY slow these days. Mine took almost 3 weeks for delivery here in the US. That was with a tracking number so I know how long it took. Wow.

Just realised the US Postal service in its infinite wisdom SUSPENDED delivery to New Zealand for most standard mail, hence why I could not get a gift from outside of NZ.
What Einstein in USPost decided that. It seems NZ is on the same level as Afghanistan and Djibouti!
This will affect secret Santas going forward as some 1st world and so called friendly countries to the USA have had postal services suspended. This will need to borne in mind in future years as we can't expect you Americans to send registered mail.
Sorry I did not know this until today and if I had I would not have made a fuss over my lacklustre gift. Strangely we can still send stuff to you as Perfessor found out!

Pricetane,
Covid's been causing a lot of complications, we've all seen that. It is what it is and there isn't much that can be done about it right now.

@princetane, unfortunately I'm in the US. If I had the ability to ship to you, I would ship you a couple coins of your liking. . . . Just to hear you stop complaining about the "lackluster" secret Santa gift you received.

I was actually apologising for the complaining. How do you guys interpret that as continual complaining. Try to do something right and you are shot down.
Sure the shoe would be on the other foot, if it happened to you. Us Kiwis write some HUGE cheques for you Americans.

Pricetane,
I do not want to cause conflict but the way you've been portraying the gift is that you still hold contempt for it, at least, that's what a few of us are interpretating it as.
Continously referring to it as "lackluster," along with stating that you wouldn't have complained if you realized that there were shipping problems only implies that you would've been upset with it still even if there weren't any problems.
The entire point of this wonderful holiday exchange is to give, not to receive.
Side note, generalizing "us Americans" as if we're different than the individuals in Australia isn't a great notion to push.
Again, I do not wish to cause any conflict whatsoever, I just wanted to respectfully point out some things that others, such as Ty2020, are getting upset by.

Princetane has has his opinion - time for the rest of us leave this subject and move on to the rest of the exchange.

Rule#3 - # 3 You must agree to send a coin or banknote with a minimum purchase value of US five dollars ($ 5) to the person you are assigned to. (FAQ: It does not have to be a single coin or banknote - but let's not get silly)
The 2 coins I received had a value of $2 NZD = $1.32 USD.
Also I live in NEW ZEALAND not Australia, we are a separate independent country! Also my name is Princetane, not Pricetane, I take continual mispellings of my name as a perosnal insult.
But I don't care anymore I am sure I have earned a lifetime ban from Secret santas.

I apologize. I thought I saw the term "Aussie" which prompted me to write about Australia, but I think I just confused myself and misread the dialogue. I also apologize for accidentally mispelling your name. Holy cow SelectCoinCanada! That is quite the impressive haul! I'm sure those are wonderful additions to your collection! Bravo to your Secret Santa!
