So this came up on ebay for $4.45 recently. I'm just going to link the sold listing so everyone can see what full coin images I was working with:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1917-LINCO...203662926983

It was listed as an improper alloy mix error, which it wasn't. Based on the closeup, I knew it was going to arrive cleaned, just wasn't sure how bad. Spoiler alert: it's very harshly cleaned, but for under $5 I'm ok with it. A rare variety sadly destroyed by a horrible cleaning; at least it was saved from a cull bin.

Not a bad details coin at all. Sad it's cleaned, but still a big win.

Thanks bats! Not too shabby of a coin. At least it makes my VG example look amazing next to it .

Very cool variety. Even with the cleaning, for $5, who would pass that up?

Another saved from mislabeling. Well done, that's a nice pick. Can't believe you saw the split in the 9. Good eye.
