CCF will not let me post the name where the photos are located. The photos did not come off of ebay. I did not like the halo around the D and I was looking at other examples of 1921 D and found the same coin.

Not only the same coin, but exactly the same photos, perhaps intentionally blurred. It looks like the photos were lifted from an online coin shop. Definitely a risky move buying this from a seller with no prior coin sales on ebay.

If it doesn't come as shown I get my money back. What risk am I incurring?

Quote: What risk am I incurring? Not much. Just the pain of dealing with ebay and everything else. Quote: It looks like the photos were lifted from an online coin shop. That's exactly what I was thinking. The new photos are very blurry, possibly from a screenshot of the originals.

Im at AU55-58. If you do actually receive the coin pictured, its a steal. With 0 feedback and no sales, I smell a scam, but hopefully it pans out.

I also found the images online. Not that hard. These weren't the images that Slider posted but the exact images that the seller provided. Like he said, it is prohibited to post images from that site here. Will just have to see what arrives.

It might wise to notify ebay in advance that you're concerned about possible fraud, in case you receive an empty package and the seller claims he shipped it. I'm not sure how buyer protection works if there is documentation that you received a shipment from the seller.

For all your wealth and experience, I'll admit this stab in the dark seems very much like you - something of a head-scratcher to us old timers.

If this is actually what you receive it would grade AU50 in my opinion.
Based on the story behind this coin I have doubts and think this is some kinda of fraud.

The more I think about this, I would suggest getting ebay to cancel the transaction on the basis that the seller used stock photos stolen from someone else, and that the sale is likely fraudulent. It's probably easier for ebay to make you whole before the seller sees the money, rather than them trying to recover money from the seller down the line. Of course, if you still want to take your chances of getting a good deal, that's up to you....
