Help Me With This Paper Money With Sequenced Serial Numbers

AshleyG Valued Member United States 102 Posts	Posted 11/16/2021 9:48 pm So I kno a friend of a friend that is selling old paper money and I was looking each one of them up and noticed this one with sequenced serial numbers. I know absolutely nothing about world money but I do know when serial numbers are sequenced like that it does mean something....am I right? help me!!!!! The note you've shown might be considered a minor type of "fancy" serial number (vs. "sequenced") by some, but it is unlikely to carry much, if any, value premium - especially in the heavily circulated condition shown. A fancy serial number such as "663663" (a Repeater) or "663366" (a Radar Repeater) would definitely be of more interest to note collectors. Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! He wants $200 for all those bills but they are all well circulated and I look up all the serial numbers and they were just so so for the most part so I don't think it's worth that money at all. Unless one of these notes happens to have serial number 000002 or something like that, the collectability would be based on rarity and quality of the notes. Report this Post to the Staff

Would need to spend some time to go through them as there may be some notes that are worth something. Some of the world note experts here can probably tell you without having to research as I would. After all, there is one note which may fetch that alone as it appears to be a ONE DOLLAR from Malaya & British Borneo: http://www.banknote.ws/COLLECTION/c.../MBB0001.htm & for reasons which completely elude me, these notes are white hot on the market right now. The photograph & condition of this lot is far too poor/sketchy to make a decent "gestimate" of what these would be worth but $200 is definitely way too high. My motto is "if in doubt" back away (& always go for the best condition you can afford). At least ask for a list of the notes, the apparent grades & some justification for the price he/she desires. You could spend that $200 on a lot better notes IMO.
