It is getting harder and harder for me to distinguish a coin from a harsh cleaning to a die or planchette issue. It can be difficult to tell sometimes. If the lines are parallel, run through the devices, and appear on both obverse and reverse (in manner illustrated by coop's pic), I'd rule out a polished die or cleaning. Plus, a polished die will leave lines in relief. |

Out of my price range. I would not be able to buy coins for 3-4 years if bought something Ike that.  I have my complete set of Ikes with all the type 1, 2, 3, blue envelope, brown box, bicentennial type 1, 2, peg leg and friendly eagle. Did I miss any? if so, I'm not quite complete. I consider the design quintessential mid-century America. The great WW2 general and post-war president, backed with the insignia from the crowning technological achievement of the era. It's a design of its time. |

That's a very nice set, in my opinion. Congrats on pulling it together. If so inclined, you can always go down the Ike rabbit hole and seek out the die clashes, doubled dies a few RPMs and the various peggers. But beware!  |

What Ikes are you still needing? Hi Cladboy, I don't collect varieties, but I have ended up with varieties I and II of the 1972 Philadelphia coin. The only 2 I need now are the 1973D and 1973S. I think this is my favourite...  |
