I agree, MS-67. I can't tell from the photos if it would come in MS-67RB or MS-67RD. PCGS, in particular, has been picky about RB/RD lately.

Nice coin!

Darn coin microscope, I can see everything well but of course color is way off. I don't want to edit anything. The picture is what I am also looking at with coin in hand. The difference is that the coin is kind of golden satin, if that makes cents oh! I mean sense. Man I find myself hilarious. My students don't LOL

I have been looking at this coin every day since I posted a picture, then went back and looked at the actual coin. I then went to every PCGS coin graded ms-68 in the fifties. A 1951-d Lincoln and a 1955-s, the only two that received a ms-68 grade and this coin holds up to both of them. From contact marks to rim damade to luster to full strike with no hits on the letters or numbers. There are two miniscule carbon marks on this coin but I saw carbon marks on the other two. These marks are magnified 20 times, so you get the idea of being small. 20 times pwr scope makes things look huge. My guess what is PCGS will give me a MS-67 or if I am super lucky a MS-67+, then I will have to resubmit to regrade or ask for a reconsideration. If this happens, they will charge me the 1 % upgrade fee (if it upgrades at all) for the new value in addition to the resubmission fee and shipping and handling. In this scenario PCGS will make an additional 100 bucks to God knows how much. It took me all of 4 months to realize how the game is played. In the event an angel appears, and I get a MS-68 how do they determine the value? What would be the best way to sell this coin? If a miracle happens and I get the exceptional grade, I could sell and buy my 1909-s vdb in 65 and the 14-d in 63 and the 09-s in 65. Since this would be the first 54-s in 68 what kind of price to accept? Look I know I will have to worry first about what grade I get. A 67 1954-s is only worth 140 bucks 67+ is only around 400 bucks I will hold on to the coin if I don't get a high enough grade, I believe. Hoping for a miracle! Maybe I will catch them on a good day!

If you pulled the one and only 68, it would be a miracle. Since none exist, PCGS will only make an estimate and may not show on their website. My guess it would turn out to be a $5000+ coin because the top registry guys would fight for it on something like ha.com.

The dies always sucked on the 54S, so I think 67RD is a solid acceptable grade.
