I've searched on the web for whatever "JSSC Sharjah 1968" stands for, but I can't seem to find anything. Seems a little crazy to be asking so much money for a counterstamp that appears to be relatively pretty modern. This piece also appears to be the only example available or known with this specific counterstamp. Have any of you seen this before, and what do you all make up it? Just another online vendor trying to work with a "get-rich-quick scheme" of over-inflating a coin that really isn't worth much over spot? Or is it some very special countermark made by some institution or political regime that left a huge impact on the region it occupied and controlled? In my opinion, I would expect to find this piece in the junk world coin bin, but that's just my uneducated opinion. What y'all think? Report this Post to the Staff

bjherbison Valued Member United States 257 Posts	Posted 12/27/2021 08:57 am That's not a counterstamp -- someone ground off a section of the coin and then stamped it. It's a seriously damaged coin. It would be worth something to someone who finds JSSC 1968 significant, or to me if there was evidence that the modification was done in 1780. Report this Post to the Staff
