sorry if this is a stupid question, Curious if the 1872 25 cent with 2 broken stems is a variety or just something common? Thanks for the help.

Yes it is a variety, and yes it is common.
1872's are found with two stems, one stem and missing stems.
The punch was damaged.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...
