My final coin. The day I got the Lincoln Cent from my neighbor, I also got a Mercury (Winged Liberty Head Dime). It was one of the prettiest coins I had ever seen. Bright and shiny with wonderful detail, reminded me more of a French coin rather than a US coin. In 2016 when the gold release came out, I had to get one. A representation of the Mercury dime but in gold. My favorite of coins, more may come out but I doubt many will surpass this one (to me at least).

Quote: Ptolemy VI Philometor, Second sole reign, 163-145 BC Wonderful coin, @NumisRob. It occurred to me that there are hints of the reverse of the Walking Liberty there... This has been a great chance to see what appeals to several CCF members and I have enjoyed each entry. To round out my ten offerings, I struggled between my 1986 ASE (I was instantly taken by that coin when it first appeared) and the one I am presenting today. The significance of this last coin is that it was my first "classic" American coin purchase. I picked this up back in 1987 on the same day that I got the ASE. She's a little worse for wear, but my budget for coins was much less at the time as a newly graduated college guy in the early days of my first real job. Here is my 1857 FE cent. Thanks for all who took part in the ten day thread!

Fantastic faves, everyone! After another weekend reveling in 8-bit nostalgia, I need to catch up. Coin 8 (Day 8 catch-up) Since we had a run of Indian Head cents, I should add this one, which is currently the most expensive purchase in my set (which lacks the 1877 and 1909-S examples). 1908-S Indian Head cent

Coin 9 (Day 9 catch-up) From the top IHC to the top Lincoln Wheat cent! Only the 1909-S VDB will top this for sure (I am still on the fence on what will be placed into my 1922 "plain" hole). 1914-D Lincoln Cent

Day 10 Of course I need to close out with an Ike, but not the classic Ike. I chose this as it is my highest graded Ike and the only MS-70 in my collection. 2013-W 5 Star Generals

Thanks everyone for all the great coins posted over the last 10 days! Truthfully I don't really know which coins in my collection are my favorites. It is very hard to decide. Here's one from my small US colonial collection that I really like despite its somewhat rough surface. 1723 Rosa Americana Two Pence Obv: Head of King George 1st of England. GEORGIVS.D:G:MAG.BRI:FRA:ET.HIB:REX. George I by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland. Rev: Crown on a rose. ROSAˇAMERICANAˇ1723. American Rose 1723. UTILEˇDULCI. Useful and Pleasant.

I've long considered the 1992 No "D" cent to be an error coin due to the process that created it. The removal of the "D" from the die during polishing was unintended - this makes it an error coin to me vs. a design variety. If you don't collect Lincoln Cent errors, you could consider skipping the coin!

Final day I didn't save the best for last or anything like that, far from the best for sure, but one that is my longest owned coin. This one was given to me in the year of mybirth (1967) by my maternal grandfather who sadly died less than a year later, so I never knew the guy but he did start my collection for me She's a little dinged up from us kids flipping silver dollars around like riverboat gamblers back in the day. Nostalgic value is priceless

The desire to complete it as created dates back to my youth; I was only 15 when I got that album. My choices are a proper No-D, a well worn "Weak" D, or this bronze blank I found a while back.

Off Topic.. but Quote: No, but I like to fill all the holes in my Dansco albums. The desire to complete it as created dates back to my youth; I was only 15 when I got that album.
My choices are a proper No-D, a well worn "Weak" D, or this bronze blank I found a while back. I'm like you. I have both a Weak D and and a bronze blank. After having the Weak D, I decided I don't collect errors/varities so I replaced it with a BU Wheat cent and put it in reverse. I found a No D slabbed for a good price and my LCS has a No D (well its really a weak d, that the D has worn off completely, you know weak reverse) for a good price. But like you I still have other coins I want before that one.

I guess since this is the last day, I'll post the one that started it all for me. This is the first single coin (used to buy wheat rolls prior) I bought for my collection......
