Just wanted to add that the weakness at the peak of the coronet (hair band at LIB..) is seen on almost all examples of this variety ( N-2 ) - this one is actually slightly sharper than many where you cannot barely see the L and I. This weakness is also present for N-2 on the hair curl on the neck and the hair above the ear, along with the wreath ribbon bow and leaves. The "wear" is therefore a die artifact and not circulation wear.

I've listed it for £600 but I would accept £400.

Edit: changed to 5 day auction starting bid £350. Should sell at that.

Hate to advertise but my auction ends today and I will post worldwide :) its currently bid at about $100. I know its details but hopefully it will fetch more to justify ngc conservation and slabbing.

You still have plenty of time. I am sure the bids will increase at the end of the auction.
And the coin is cool, I envy you.

Best of luck! I'm guessing hammer price will be about $175-$200 USD

Thank you, I'd be happy with $175 or higher but I would be disgruntled at $125

although you did the right thing getting the coin conserved its a tough sell for surfaces like this for any serious collector. a novice is not going to pay that much for a coin and someone looking for a coin to fill a hole is not going to pay full retail for an ED coin. recent sales of straight graded ones by PCGS are in the $160-175 range

going in there was no doubt this coin would detail and with the cost of grading and conserving probably should not have been sent in. hopefully you will at least break even

It finished at $172. Not bad and I didn't pay much for it as I got it in a job lot of which I kept a lot of nice coins. Panzaldi, I thought there was a chance it might straight grade, but no skin off my back :)
