I have a 1935 CANADA ONE CENT coin that on the obverse looks like there is a gouge in front of George's nose. How can I tell if it is from when it was struck or a later time? Have tried to post pics on here but they never seem to download.

If it is a gouge, you can be pretty sure that it is damage.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR INPUT ON THE COIN.
WE WERE CLEANING OUT A DECEASED RELITAVES HOME AND FOUND TWO OLD FILM CANISTERS OF CANADIAN AND NEWFOUNDLAND COINS.
DATES FROM 1899 TO 1968. SEVERAL OF THEM FROM 40'S AND 50'S.ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHT I SHOULD KEEP A WATCH OUT FOR?
