Recent ebay transaction where buyer bids and wins, and then asks me to ship directly to Pinehurst coins with their PO printout enclosed. They are one of those flippers buying directly off ebay and shipping it directly to Pinehurst to make a few bucks. I canceled the transaction and of course they left negative feedback, but I don't care and I don't rely on ebay for money...it's the principle. I'd rather sell to a collector who will enjoy the product in their collection vs. some sleazeball who is trying to make $20.

Is this common?

After it's sold a buyer can burn it as far as I care, shipping it to pinehurst is the buyers business and shouldn't be your concern. If you want to specifically sell to a collector, ebay is probably not the right venue.

You deserved a negative feedback.

No. And here is the thing I really enjoy your posts, but once it's sold it's sold. You were in the wrong for canceling the sale. You had a product the buyer made an offer you accepted and then canceled.

Fair enough. Maybe I was technically wrong for canceling but the whole scenario seemed so sleazy to me. The buyer should just receive the product at home and then submit wherever.

Not a pleasant subject, but I agree--once it's sold, it's sold. The marketplace is what it is, warts and all.

If you had shipped it to Pinehurst, the buyer could claim you didn't send it to their registered address and easily get their money back, regardless of what other evidence you had that the buyer wanted it that way.

IMO, you were right to cancel.

However, I think the buyer COULD have added Pinehurst's address to their profile, and then it would be OK to ship there.

Sorry I was away.

And I wanted to bring up the same point NSS brought up, if the address on PayPal was not the one that he wanted it shipped to, you could have said "I can only ship the address on record", then the buyer would have to pay to ship to Pinehurst.

Look, I'm not saying that I like what the seller did but a deal is a deal, you could also be a strict follower of the rules (ship it to address on file) but I wouldn't have canceled the sale because the buyer was making a profit.

I wonder what kind of profit - it was a 2021 Morgan P I sold for 110 and Pinehurst sells them for 130-140. Sounds like a lot of pain for zero gain.

The Morgan's and Peace have been going up. I sold my extras to the local dealer for $120 and they sold them as a package deal of all 6 for $900. Sold all the extras in a few days.

On the somewhat same topic, my uncle just had his 86 th birthday. I was going to buy him a nice 1935 Peace dollar, his birth year.

I had asked a seller on a BIN item if I bought his coin would he mail it direct to my uncle. Thus, saving time and second shipping costs. Having explained all this to the seller, I did not get a response.

I would have understood whatever his response was.

I did not buy his coin. I just moved on.
