Hey hey diggers! ...and collectors!

After another long dreary winter the snow has melted and the fields are ready to give me coins and relics to add to my collection.
First dig of the season was a short and sweet affair...only an hour and a half at a great old colonial site just minutes from my doorstep. I had to shake the cobwebs off the detector (and myself a little bit too lol) but I was feeling good and so glad to be outdoors enjoying life again.
It's always good to see a nice old coin come out of the dirt and my only take for the day was a pre confederation token from Nova Scotia NS 7B4. Pretty decent shape for a 200 year old+ token and a keeper for sure!

I'm looking forward to getting back out there trying to capture some more prizes from the past out of the ground.

As for cleaning and conserving I'm not going to do much else to it..to me it's pretty good, I like the patina and it's easily identifiable and honestly that's about the best you can hope for from a ground find.
Stripping away the verdi gris and tarnish will leave the coin pitted and dull.
I will be honest with you, I did soak it in hydrogen peroxide to remove dirt and oils, it does this not removing patina like water would. Also, a rub with Renaissance Wax (conservators wax) because the peroxide leaves a very dry surface and this brings it back to life.
