the date has some extra thickness

but the die marker scratches in front of the face are different

I agree that the number 9 appears to be a little thicker. I'm interested to see what others think.

While at this link, take a look at what the DDO's really look like that year. Some are showing hug bread/distortion on the devices. When you look at the listings, you will have a better idea as to what you should be looking for. These listings are a map, so you can reach your destination.

i agree all the "9"ssss are huge.

and if I remember I think there is only one doubled die that has a "9" that is bigger then a door stop.

the thickness I was referring to is on the "20".

It does look like a thick date to me. A comparison picture with a normal coin would help these guys out. Awesome pictures!
