Die chip. Just a die event. When a piece breaks off of the die, then there is a void on the die of what the shape of the metal that broke off of the die. When the coin is struck, the void is filled with metal and is raised as tall as the breakaway off of the die. Thus this is just a die event. Just a chip. The can grow if more and more of the die continues to break off of the die. But this will never be a Cud. A Cud is a breakaway from the edge of the die. Part of the Gutter will be missing. That void on the die will be taller than the rim and most part of the design. Depending on how deep the die crack/chip/break/retained bud/cud. Hope this helps.
