Received this note today. I realize it's probably over-graded because of the uneven trim on the top of the note, which is quite apparent looking at the front. However, the dealer had this priced accordingly and as I found the note very attractive overall I decided to go ahead and get it. The without-monogram 1st issue notes are a bit tougher to get in high grades, and I'm quite happy with this new acquisition.

They're all really cool looking, really great detail and nice catch on the Justice note.

Thanks, ChoppedTriumphs and TinyRetreat!
@TinyRetreat, I will have a 3rd issue 25 cent note that was printed on fiber paper to share in a few days! Not a particularly high grade, but an interesting note nonetheless.

My latest addition, a 25 cent third issue, Fr#1297. This note is printed on fiber paper, also known as membrane or spider leg paper. It was made of two thin sheets of paper with the membranes, or spider legs, between the sheets. The M-2-6-5 surcharges on the back refer to membrane paper, two sheets, and the year they were printed (1865). Kravitz, in his collector's guide, mentions that for Fr#1297-1300 the fiber paper is thick and coarse, not the thin fiber paper used for some of the 2nd issue notes. He also mentions this thick fiber paper can be brittle. This particular note I thought looked good for the grade, though the centering on the back of the note is fairly poor. The surcharges are clear. And, the paper itself looks quite interesting!
