Dear ebay Member, 00-344421-22712-PSI-8837

During our regularly scheduled account maintenance and verification procedures,
we have detected a slight error in your billing information.

This might be due to either of the following reasons:

1. A recent change in your personal information ( i.e. change of address).

2. Submitting invalid information during the initial sign up process.

3. An inability to accurately verify your selected option of payment due to an
internal error within our processors.

Please update and verify your information by clicking the link below:

LINK REMOVED FOR SAFETY PURPOSES

If your account information is not updated within 48 hours then your ability to
sell or bid on ebay will become restricted.

Sincerely,

Here is the dead giveaway.. Dear ebay Member

ebay will never address you like this, they always use your name. Also ebay does not put sign-in links in any email.

There are many different variations on this same theme. It is an attempt to get your account information. Emails like this one should be forwarded to spoof@ebay.com and then deleted.

Similar fraudulent emails that appear to come from Paypal are rampant also. These should be forwarded to spoof@paypal.com and then deleted.

Richard, just a suggestion, you may want to remove the link since it's causing the thread to extend past the screen. We also don't want anyone to click on it in error.

I have gotten that email before too. First time it kinda worried me because I did not know any better. I waited a few days to see what would happen to my account, and nothing did happen so I figured iy was a hoax. Now I just delete them as they come in.
