Are we talking coins that I can afford or not  I like to collect slq's and Commemorative halves. I've been collecting for a couple years... Favorite Coin's are Standing Liberty quarters, Working on my type set | Coffee, Corvettes, Coins & the CCF what could be better? |

Just to be a little different, I don't generally collect any specific coin since I am primarily a type set collector (although I also like to pick up various "key dates" when the opportunity arises). But my favorite type of coin I love to collect is proof coins. Especially classic proofs from the 1800s and early 1900s. I have spent years trying to put together an affordable "Proof Type Set" collection similar to the 7070, but with all proof coins. I really like small cents. Everything from the Flying Eagle to the copper Lincoln cents. If I had to say a favorite it would be Indian Head cents.   |

I never consider the investment aspect. I collect for the beauty and history of a particular coin or series. My favorites are anything capped bust series since it is the earliest my pocket can afford. Wish I could do more with draped bust and flowing hair.

I love small cents a lot. My favorite to collect of all of them would be the Flying Eagle cent. A short but exciting series complete with so many different doubled dies, unique mule clashes, re punched dates, overdates, errors, and the design is classic and amazing. Pretty new to collecting, but I like to collect interesting designs. So for the US that would be the state/America the beautiful/women quarters. I would love to start collecting commerative half/dollars though

Well, Rome wasn't built in a day, hokiefan, and neither was that collection! I remember getting down to one last coin I wanted to add (the 20 cent piece) and thinking I was never going to find one I liked at a price I could afford. Patience eventually won out, though. Finding "just the right" coin - one that looks great and is in the price range I'm willing to pay - is sometimes my biggest issue, especially with the 19th century proofs. I'm not in a hurry, and I won't buy a coin just to fill a hole, so one of these years I'll get there! And the satisfaction of finally finding a coin I'm happy with to fill one of those holes is a great feeling... By the way, the proof Morgan I use as my avatar is my prize coin in that set (so far  ). |

 to the CCF! I collect error coins almost exclusively. I have a few collectable coins that are 'normal.' If I order a new coin or set from the mint, I'm sitting there with my fingers crossed saying "Come on! Please be an error, please be an error!"  It's kind of like playing the lottery and I get about the same results, too. Silly, huh?  ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! My favorite coin to collect is Morgan silver dollars.But my favorite coins are Carson City Morgan's.I guess that sums it up. Edited by FlyingTiger
