@wade and @lao, you will notice that I have deleted and edited your replies, respectively. We are talking about coins rather than political commentary. Thx.

Spence, thanks for the editing. I started this thread to show coins depicting monkeys.

Here is one oversize coin from Gibraltar, a 25 New Pence coin issued in 1971 shows Barbary Macaque (Macaca sylvanus). The Macaque is the only wild monkey population in the European continent living in Gibraltar.

i still can't understand how people can keep chimps as pets. They are nightmarish to handle.

You do realise any coin with a human on it counts. We humans are a member of the family of Great Apes.

The family includes (Pongo) Orangutans, Pan (Chimpanzees and Bonobos), Gorillae (Gorillas) and Homoinae (Humans and extinct humanlike hominids).

The main difference between apes and monkeys, is that they generally don't have tails (Gibbons and siamang do), and apes can walk upright if needed, along with being a lot larger than most monkeys (Baboons and mandrills excluded).

Gibbons and siamang are a step down as Lesser apes.

Sorry I just had to monkey about a bit. Apes are my favourite animals after Bears and Cats.

Sorry I thought I had a monkey coin, but I have not.
