The current set of Jordan banknotes has five banknotes, each one of them shows a portrait of one of the past and present Kings of Jordan. The set was first issued in 2002, about three years after the coronation of the current King, Abdallah II.

Thanks for posting! I was there in 2008 and saved examples of the 1, 5 and 10 dinars, although I don't think I ever saw any of the higher denominations. They are very attractive. On my previous visit in 1996 they still had half-dinar notes with a portrait of the then King Hussein Ben Talal.

Thank, NumisRob. I was in Jordan in summer 2019 and, indeed, no use of higher denominations. I used the 50 Dinar banknote once to pay the entry ticket in Petra.

I grew in Jerusalem and I remember the half Dinar banknote you mentioned since Jordanian currency was still in use in East Jerusalem shortly after 1967 when Israel took control on the area. All Jordan banknotes from King Hussein reign period from 1949, show in the front his portrait only. This current set is different since it shows all Kings of Jordan.
