Eaglefoot,

I was really hoping that the rolls from this morning were going to come wrapped in Mint wrappers or at least a special wrapper to indicate they were released at the special ceremony this morning. Turns out they were just String & Son wrappers (oh well)

afernbaugh,

It might be, but the pieces I have seem to come from a later stage die, so any fine retooling doesn't show too well. If anything, under a loupe the bust appears to be kind of "mushy". To support the possibility of a later stage die, on about a third of the coins from the roll I opened there is a small die crack beginning to form under Lincoln's ear.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was wondering .... or something similar to the Cheerios Sac, as I mentioned, in some way....but relating to this Event.
That would have been a wonderful idea for them to offer them in a separate way/wrapper. To set them apart from all of the others from Banks, Mint, etc. etc. And to know that these in particular came from a very special event honoring Lincoln.
They might have been referred to in the future as the "Lincoln paper premium". heh heh heh

Canadian here, and I have been feeling not only the excitment over the new coins to be released but also have developed some keen interest in the great man. PBS has been broadcasting shows on him all week, and I have been captivated.
Unsure if I missed this, but is there a mint mark on these?..Will there be both a P and D mint mark?
Perhaps an acetone bath to help with the spotting issue?
Regardless, congrats!

As per usual/unchanged with that.......will be both "P" & "D".....but the Philly mintmark isn't on the coin....referred to as "Plain" as Hollywood says below.....

Gotta admit--the reverse looks better struck than as a drawing.

Every bank and area will be different I'm sure......some will take forever........some will get them pretty fast.
At lunch today, the cashier had to break open a new roll of cents. They were all bright and beautiful! I immediately wished they would be 2009, expected them to be 2008, only to find out they were 2007!

We are so behind here. I have only had two 2008 cents in change.

I was there too. I ended up going through the line a few times and got 3 unopened boxes and 40 rolls.

The ones I got don't have the spotting like yours CND. They are as sharply struck as any cent I have seen.

Nelrak,

WOW!! I was near the front of the line at the beginning and I thought about going through again but thought that it would take forever for the line to die down. Darn, I should have waited and gotten more!! But, congrats on your take! You probably have more of them than anyone else in the country right now!

Nelrak - Hook a new member up with a single. That sounds awesome.

In all seriousness, Congrats to you guys on getting those. I can't wait to get mine.
