Lincoln Cents With Ring Marks - Coin Community Forum

mikep Valued Member United States 322 Posts	Posted 02/16/2009 1:41 pm Hi all. I have found a few of these cents with ring marks and I'm not sure what to make of them. Die scratches or something else? I have found a couple of the 1996 D cents with concentric lathe lines on the obverse and also a 1988 D Jefferson nickel with them, but these look a little different. What do you guys think of these. (#2) 1996 D Ring marks behind memorial and I think this one might be a doubled die? 1988 Ring marks behind memorial and can also be seen on the steps. 2004 Heavy ring marks dead center only. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/16/2009 2:53 pm I call these lathe marks. The die was turned, but not polished enough to remove the deeper lathe turning marks. A nice set you have there. I find them interesting. Report this Post to the Staff
