Hello Everyone, here is the update on the Quarter. Mike Diamond from Coin World. He wrote an article in Collectors' Clearinghouse Errors & Varieties. Still inconclusive on what caused this damage. Here is the article for you all to read. Enjoy! Sorry had to remove the article, didn't think about the copywrite issue. Sorry Mike. Mike can you give us the link so we can access the article?

Thanks for the update! I missed this one when it was posted originally, but it's some very interesting PMD and glad that Mike decided to investigate it thoroughly!

While I don't police anyone's post, please be advised that posting the entire article is probably a violation of copyright law.

Unfortunately, Coin World seldom places my articles online in an open-access format. They like people to subscribe. However, it's perfectly acceptable to summarize my findings under the "fair use" doctrine. Personally, I don't care if my articles are posted in their entirely. I just want to warn people of possible legal ramifications (which I've never actually seen pursued against anyone).

Same thing happened to me Arby. Just edit your post and just post up a snippet of the important stuff.

Here's an ebay auction featuring a 1996-P dime with the same sort of post-strike damage. https://www.ebay.com/itm/165936913078

Interesting, though more significant damage seems present on that dime i.e. east side rim appears flattened and also the surface appears discolored around the grooves almost like it was seared/heated possibly by friction?
