J1M - Doesn't matter anyway, most of us can't read Arab text.
I do see the date AH1322 at the top of that coin though, which would be 1903/4 unless they are dating in solar (365 day) years after 622. Just a lovely and fascinating coin, we see too few examples of around here.
Keep them coming - Spasibo!
Indeed a fascinating coin! Unfortunately AFAIK all my other Yemen coins hadn't been photographed (and I am currently away from my collection in the short-to-medium term, so can't take any more pics.)
Your reading of 1322 and conversion to 1903/4 is correct; this is the so-called accession date, in this case of Imam Yahya, who ruled for over 40 years (apparently the first 14 of them nominally under the Ottomans, who didn't recognize his authority). The issuing date is on the other side.
The previous (pentagonal) coin had an accession date too, but by then Ahmad was in power, so the accession date is 1367 and the issuing date is 1368 - easy to confuse, especially as the Arabic 7 and 8 look so similar!
AFAIK my next coin entry with a fully Islamic date is 1909. I'll have a few more, sporadically, but probably not very many.
And I suppose - Kia ora! Google tells me that's how it's said in Maori

A really interesting coin! I think I have some Indian princely state coins, but nothing as grand as this.
I expect we'll see a lot more Indian states coins as this thread progresses further into the period when the princely states were active.
And now the actual coin - or most of one, anyway...

French protectorate of Tunisia, 20 centimes, 1942.
It's nice how all the identifying parts are visible even though barely half the coin is left! I think I have some identifiable partial coins with even less remaining.
AFAIK these holed zinc pieces are prone to breakage, I've seen it on mainland French coins too. This particular example was heavily discounted due to its state, so I snatched it when I saw it.
