2015 was a decent year for New Zealand. The star was the Anzac 50 cent coin, our first circulating commemorative coin since 1940.

Minted in Canada, the coin celebrated 100 years since the Anzac landings in Gallipoli. 1 million were minted and 500k went to the army, the other 500k were sold in rolls of 20 through Post Offices. These disappeared in lightning quick time.

They were supposed to circulate and none did thanks to hoarders. Within days, examples were selling for $5 each on Trade Me. I am to blame as well as I have sold several rolls at great profit and have one roll and 30 loose ones left! They did not repeat the same mistakes in 2018, yet that coin is rare too.

The design shows a Kiwi and Australian soldier backs to each other with Maori designs around them.

Surprisingly all the coins including a plain 50 cent were released this year and it was the first complete year in ages, as NZ adopts a plan of releasing each coin every 2 or 3 years on average and they seldom clash.

Trigg has shown Remembrance already, but I will add the other $2 colour ring coin of 2015 as well, this is the Australian Anzac coin commemorative to go with the NZ one, showing red for the blood and crosses symbolising the dead at the disastorous Gallipoli landings on April 25 1915. This event has aslo cemented the Australian NZ relationship.

10c Lyrebird, 5c Echidna, $2 Indigenous Australian elder, $1 Mob of roos.

Another new country - Vanuatu, they shrinked their coinage and reissued it in Stainless steel in 2015.

This 50 vatu has the country name in the native language - Bislama

Cook Islands also joined the shrunken coin metal changes.

A hilarious triangular $2 piece from 2015. Previously it was chrome coloured cupro nickel.

Tonga joined the steel coin craze too. However this 2015 coin shows Tupou V, the other coins are dated 2016 and shwo Tupou VI. Mainly as Tupou V's reign was only 7 years (2006 - 2013) and in it no coins with his effigy were used.

I bought some too, can't remember if it was one roll or two. These went to trading friends around the world. Then later some CoAs arrived. I still have about 5 of those, but no coins to go with them. Did you get those to PrinceTane? Do you need any more.

2015 was the year the portrait of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley on circulating UK coins was replaced by the current portrait by Jody Clark. Coins were issued with both portraits. Here are old- and new-style 2p pieces:

It was also the year the last circular brass £1 coins were issued for circulation, with different reverse and obverse designs:

Trigg - I did get one in a lot, but the person never registered the coin on time. I guess you could send me one as a package stiffener for my beautiful lot of Commonwealth and bee coins.

Meanwhile the year 2015 continues.

Now its a Mexican 10 Pesos coin from 2015

This one has a base metal centre, but original 1992 - 94 ones were actually silver, they also got hoarded.

Another Vanuatu coin, this time its the 20 vatu.

That will probably be my 2015. Bring on the 1940s.
