1989 D Lincoln Memorial Cent Ghost Lettering On Reverse?

4bsolute New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 08/24/2022 02:58 am New to this so sorry if this is a common question. I found a 1989 D Lincoln Cent with heavy Machine Doubling which I am told is very common and priced at face value. What I can't find any info about is what looks like ghost letters or possible columns under the AM on the reverse. I had a hard time getting a great shot of it but if it ends up being anything worth the effort I can probably get a little better of a shot with proper lighting. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 08/24/2022 09:18 am The obverse die is showing DDD. Note how the devices are showing this in the direction of the closest rims. Reverse is showing some incuse marks from coin contact during circulation. Coin damage and die events is what you are seeing. (The split plating happens when the coin is struck) Usually seen on the outside edges of devices towards the closest rim direction. None are a premium for the coin, but know what happened is the premium to the searcher. When you see this again, you can move on to the next coin.
