This one graded VF-25. I was disappointed in this grade, I thought it would be 30/35. This is one where I don't feel like the graders know this die pair - the centers are always soft.

Westcoin had it until being swayed by the TV.

I had it at 30, but 25 does not entirely surprise.

I need to learn to stay with my first gut guess/feelings on grading, they are more often right than not. LOL still a nice coin.

It is a strong 25. The eye appeal along should have bumped it up 5 points.

inconsistency with TPG grading these with soft strikes is one reason why I have a problem grading these. some graders take that into consideration and I've seen many that do not. in examples like this buy the coin not the slab. you got a great deal at that price.

maybe a bean would be a consideration to give it a bump. I mean just look at the sharpness of the higher devices on this coin. no way its a 30

A TPG rule of thumb is coins under XF do not take strike weakness into account when assigning a numeric grade.

I heard that years ago and have seen evidence of it many times. This is another example.
