Me I do not see any traces of FG. I think the coin could be an 40

On the last image I can see the 'G'. Just a die event with a die polishing issue.

if FG is there, it's not obvious, I'd say that qualifies

the reverse has odd coloring, like the coin has been cleaned

It hasn't been cleaned since I've had possession of it, which has been about 25 years. But it was well circulated. The criteria for qualifying as a No FG half seem to be very vague. How do you know if it is or if it isn't? Was there a die that actually had the FG missing on it when it was made? Or were the initials polished away in all cases?

They are just a die polishing event to remove damage from the die. Being a sub devices (slightly lower than the fields) die polishing can affect these devices. When they are totally missing grading companies goes crazy about these to be graded. As a common die event, I see no premium for these, but other do. To me they are just a die event. (Newbies go crazy over these) probably the ones buying these in slabs. Someday it will come to the collectors that these are not a special die variety, but a die event that commonly happens when the dies are polished. When this happens, then all the slabs will stop selling and the bottom will fall out of the market for these. Happens often on most series of designs. Time will tell if I right or not.
