PCGS, NGC, ANACS are the top 3 - some people also like ICG.

Like anything else the most popular TPGS brings the most amount of money if trying to sell. I would think PCGS is the most popular one around. At coin shows I always hear things like "But this coins is in a PCGS slab you know"
If you go to their web site you can join and get some benifits in the prices for having coins done. Although I think you have to pay for that joining stuff.

By the way what did you mean by popular opinion. I for one don't like slabbed coins. And don't forget they take up a lot of room. If your not planning on selling them, why have them slabbed?

Only slab them for re-selling in my opinion. And then only if it would more than cover the cost of the slabbing.

And always check the value of the coins you intend to have slabbed. I've seen to many slabbed coins at coin shows worth a few dollars and wondered why would anyone spend $25 or more to have a $2 coin slabbed.

NGC, ICG, and PCGS, all require you to join their club first before you can submit your coins. ANACS doesn't require you to join a club, you can submit them directly.

I have used ANACS and I have been very pleased.

I was thinking about slabbing the 1878 S Morgan. But, not for resale more to protect it. Some of the my Morgans have tone or are starting to tone. I just think that this Morgan has great eye appeal & I want to preserve it as is. I was thinking airtight would do that. But, I do feel the difference between holding a coin in a 2x2 & a coin in a slab. When I hold a coin in a 2x2 it feels better. Please let me know your opinions

YES, YES, YES, YES, YES.
Lots of ways to keep it without a slab.
