Hello, I would like your help to identify this coin please. My father found it on a trip and when he returned to Canada, took it to a jeweler to make a pendant. Unfortunately, he died and I have no other leads to identify this piece. In my opinion it is one and the same coin (I think so)
Yes, a 1/2 reale Spanish cob from the new world - minted between 1556 and 1598.
Similar cobs were also minted by the Spanish at the Lima Peru mint during the same period.
The link in the post above to coins from the Potosi Boliva mint gives the best background, but this is a link to the Lima Peru cobs. Could be either one - the mint mark will identify which. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces47913.html
Daniel Sedwick has auctioned some over the years. His late 2021 sale included several. Follow this link and scroll down to Item Nos. 483, 484 and 485. https://auction.sedwickcoins.com/Tr...q=&hi=0&vm=1
Sorry for the confusion, it's only one coin !! I edited the post, hoping to be clearer, and sorry for my English, I'm a French Canadian. Well thanks for your answer, it helps me a lot!!
