I don't see this as a re-engraved date, to me it looks more like die chips inside the eight. IMO

If it were to be an 8/8 or re-engraving we would see some on the outer right side. this kind of looks like some odd MD or Die Deterioration Doubling, or maybe filling but look at the back of the 3 there looks to be some MD or DD there too. but maybe its some re-engraving but I'm still on MD or DD
