There's a good chance this one is replated...but I really can't tell?
The obverse is covered in bubbles, but the reverse is unremarkable.
The obverse also has some pretty extreme die polishing lines around the portrait...most notably by the mouth/beard/chin area as well as where his hair/neck and collar meet.
Not sure if the polishing is an artifact of the plating process to help ensure adhesion or what?
Would like to hear your feedback.
Zoom in on the pics and let me know what you think.
As always...Thank you for looking!

I guess it is possible it was re-plated, if so, it was done well - but possibly not washed well enough.
BUT,
It could be rust bubbles under the zinc plating too. (only one way to find out)

Not re-plated, looks to just be some plating bubbles.

If it was replated, the edges would have been plated also.
Probably just plating bubbles

Nice coin BTW! I can see the cartwheel spokes, no major hits, clean wheat lines. MS-64 IMO

So are you saying that only time will tell and they will eventually rust through?
I picked up a decent tube of these not too long ago and just got around to looking at them. I might have to post some more. So many die cracks and polishing lines...might even have an obscure RPM or 2 and even a couple of obscure DDR's.
I have to study up on Wexler's and Variety Vista to see if I can match them up...If I can't...I'll be asking for some help!

Even with the bubbles that doesn't effect the grade? That's good news!
There are a couple more in this tube that might be even better...I'll try and post em up to get some grading opinions.
Thanks again!

If you have nicer ones, post them in the grading forum. I look forward to seeing them! It's refreshing to see posts with non-PMD 1943's.
