On this penny the Engravers initial look odd to me. Would this be caused by circulation damage or could this have happened during minting process. The reverse does not show a lot of damage on the coin but the F G does not look normal. I also have a 1977 with a similar issue. I could not find information on this type of damage any help would be appreciated.

maybe a die crack connects the F with the Memorial building?

I was thinking the same thing. Circulation damage towards the bottom of the F.

Whatever caused the damage still results in the same issue. Post mint damage Damage is damage. .
