Hmm it looks to me like there are slightly split serifs on the letter Ts in UNITED and STATES for that DDR, but not so sure that this cent has them. I'm leaning more toward this being Machine Doubling.

Unfortunately, I'm not at home right now that is why the pictures turned out how they did. I will be sure to post better pictures tomorrow. I was looking at the an& D in United and the S&T in state. Those are the two signs that made me look up the listing.

I think if you got us a nice shot of the "FG", we would know for sure, that's some of the best doubling.

While the actual look of the doubling suggests MD, the location and strength of the doubling is pretty close to right on for the DDR. Makecents is correct that the FG is diagnostic, but also the tip of the lower bar of the E in CENTS has a very nice notch. I do not see the notch on the upper serif of the first S in STATES so am doubtful, but coins have surprised me before.

I don't see that the FG shows any Doubling but I am a novice in this game, so I'll leave that up to you professionals. Once again, sorry about the photos. If we all come to a consensus, that better ones are needed. Those will have to be taken tomorrow and uploaded..

Check out the marked up pic. Yours, unfortunately is just some coincidental MD. Keep on looking though.

It's still a keeper, though.

Only if you want a coin to show to another collector what NOT to collect. Just common Machine Doubling. Post strike by the machine. Not a doubled die, as only a doubled die can happen on a doubled die issue. you can have a doubled die with with Machine Doubling, but Machine Doubling never creates a doubled die. (only a doubled die can create a doubled die coin)
