I found this small die crack while looking through some mid to late 90's quarters. I believe the crack goes through the bottom portion of Washington's bust. From what I can tell the crack stops at the engraver's initials and possibly shoots off towards the rim right above the 6. If anybody can help me figure out if I'm seeing this correctly, I would appreciate it.

Most think of a spike head being from the rim to the head but can be from the rim to any part of the bust. See if you can match yours up.

After reviewing the link provided I believe this would be the closest match to what I have found. I just can't find on mine what they show on the reverse. SKH-25c-1996P-06

This is a good exercise for anyone, especially new to coins. It will teach you how a die will change over time and develop new and longer cracks as well. If you search long enough, you will find coins that have come from the same die but a different stage of it.

As far as your coin goes, 06 is not it, your crack is a little further down into the "1". It may not be listed and may even be one of the listed coins that has longer or more die cracks now. As stated, this is a common area for quarters to have cracks. Fun to check them against listings though.

I appreciate all the information you guys have provided. I'm researching as much as I can before posting. I was not aware that this was considered a spike through Washington head so thank you for providing that link. I have a couple others that I'm looking at that this link will definitely help me with. I will post at a later time. I'm hoping to be able to match it prior to asking you folks for assistance.
