1965 Quarter, Is This Clad Layer Error?

1965 Quarter. I see a five sorta on the obverse that looks like a die clash, but the color throws me. the front and back has no color.
I know the layer started in 1965 right?
Please help, I really dont know just trying to learn.

Yes this a clad coin, but as the frog points out, this surface discoloration most often comes from being buried in soil.

I'm going to agree as well, it lived in acidic or wet location for a long time before getting rescued.
