trdhrdr007 Pillar of the Community United States 2335 Posts	Posted 01/23/2023 12:18 pm Before I saw this coin I'd never heard of a folded strike. My understanding is that the coin enters the press standing on edge & is folded during the strike. I don't know if that's what I'm seeing here or if the coin folded before being struck. Almost folded perfectly in half and from your description even I can understand what happened to make this. I've taken your reverse closeup and added some arrows to where it looks like the edge of the overlapping metal is. Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. (sorry) But it was struck exactly that way not in the collar. I would think this would be a very rare event, but if mint assisted, it may have been done on purpose? Report this Post to the Staff
