Before I saw this coin I'd never heard of a folded strike. My understanding is that the coin enters the press standing on edge & is folded during the strike. I don't know if that's what I'm seeing here or if the coin folded before being struck. Hoping there's an expert here that can educate me.

First a folded 'Denver' Roosevelt dime (graded by PCGS as Philadelphia), now a folded over cent - Now we need a folded over nickel, and quarter.

This is a very cool find. congrats.

New error to me, never heard of it but it does look like a genuine error.

The fold over vanishes into the obverse, I think.
Wow, that is a real dandy.

I can see that being the result if the planchet is on edge or leaning when struck. Very nice. That one will be difficult to store in a way to prevent the zinc from oxidizing to dust.

Love this one. Almost folded perfectly in half and from your description even I can understand what happened to make this.

I've taken your reverse closeup and added some arrows to where it looks like the edge of the overlapping metal is.

In hand the fold over is on the reverse. The line starts below the N of CENT, runs through the T, & then through the Lincoln Memorial.

It was struck folded. I just missed the second side image from before. (sorry) But it was struck exactly that way not in the collar. I would think this would be a very rare event, but if mint assisted, it may have been done on purpose?
