Quite the struggle to actually find any images of a minor indent on a Kennedy half so just going by what it very much looks like. The fin that comes up at the rim is fully reeded and the coin appears to be pretty much fully round so seems to have been struck in the collar.

Now, why I don't think it is an indent. While the coin opposite of an indent tends to be fairly wonky-looking, I really haven't seen them with this kind of weakness. It looks more like a planchet flaw where a chunk was just plain missing there. But I do not have enough experience with silver coins to even know if they can be just missing a chunk like that.

This it is funny coin. Near the T I see some traces like the Si melt down and coincide with the other part. The color of the coin in the case of silver is very easy to restore, so we do not question this. BUT seem like melt and do not fit 100 % with. I never see this. The reverse is so rounded and expanded also.

Was a melting test done on the coin? The side of the coin if was this must be shrike like the very old skin rink calls.

And the weight is? Very plausible thought process and the weakness on the reverse means the metal wasn't there when the coin was struck.
The area looks to have the same radius as a half-dollar. How about the weight?

These aren't really numismatic terms but maybe a "Standing Clip" or "Scraping Clip"?
How's this for creative thinking:
a blank is created normally but fails to eject out of the way completely and ends up just barely in the path of the cutter. The cutter comes down and barely grazes this blank. It seems like since most of the coin isn't under the cutter, his part would pivot upward as the cutter passes through the edge and scrape part of the blank away.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

I think I can see the slightest hint of Blaksely effect starting by the 1 in 1964 and going up to about 3/16 below the L in liberty.

I'm leaning towards a planchet that had a small clip.

Looks like a calved planchet. I'd love to know where that chip is.

Sounds to be rare but is this a possibility? The "V" area, folded over on the reverse?

I'm in the planchet flaw camp on this one.
