I know this will be kind of pointless with out pictures but this is where the problem lies. I made my first blind purchase from what I was going to buy.
6 old half dollars, old silver dollar, a few indians and a bunch of Wheat Pennies. Ok, I am going through what I feel is the oldest roll of Cents in the bunch. so I start looking through them and I find 3 that make me dance, a 1927 that explains a Woody to me( Woodgrain Cent) Quit Smiling, On the reverse only. I am asking how this happens. The Finish on the penny of course. (Quit Laughing) #2 a Lamination error on a 1913, is this due to some type of die Crack? and #3 a 1939 or 1939 D (Chocolate brown, thats the color I call it). Anywhooooo. the penny looks like a 1938 with a 1939 stamped over it or part of the 8 got filled in on the die. How common is this?

Now the best part, I am currently at work and will get home after 7:00 to see all the The main problem is I haven't masterd my canon (camera) yet. Macro is nto a good option for me yet. Scans will have to do. If I can't get really good scans on here I am going to be If you can, try to help this newbie out and I will see what I can do to get good enough scans on here to se the 38'39 thing. Thanks all.

I have read in several threads that Wood grained Lincolns often are only on one side of the coin. I'm just posting here so that you don't jump off a bridge or anything silly!!

Here is a scan. How does the woodgraining happen? why only on 1 side of the coin? Thanks All. I am just excited, I am hoping I have found my first errors. Thanks all.
