I am of the belief that the 87 penny is in the range of pennys that is supposed to have the Close AM., however I think this one would be considered the Wide AM...?

That is normal on all Lincoln Memorial cents from 1959-1991
The first CAM did not appear until 1992

Ok so in that case the a touching the m on anything in that time range aka C.AM is the error n the wide ones are correct...?

There is nothing to look at on the AM in 1987, all are the same. There may be minor differences due to die wear, damage or polishing but there are no different varieties.
