Hi, Is this a error? It's on the top if the hat near the back of the crown?
And is it worth anything?

Thanks!

That is just a die chip. Have seen this a couple
of times on this forum. Worth 25 cents.

just chips. The quarters are famous for having a lot of chips on them. They are worth more than .25 cents to people who don't know what they are doing, trying to make money from other people that don't know what they are doing. They are just events that happen to an aged die.

Yes, die chip. It's a hat, not a crown.

"Crown" is what people on ebay have named this die chip on his hat.

Die Chips can get progressively larger as more and more coins are struck. This is the biggest one I've found below so far on the 2021-p washington crossing the delaware quarter hat which sold for 16.27 to give you an idea. Generally they do not carry a large value since they can be common, most are small and its only ones that do something interesting to the design that typically sell.

From Coop: How are die chips raised on coin? The Die has a chip break off of the die, leaving a void. When the coin is struck this void on the die is filled in with metal that is now raised on the coin. That is how die chips are raised on the coins.
